Financial Aid Award Evaluation and Comparison

Comparing financial aid awards can be difficult and confusing. Students and their families should seek answers to a number of questions, including:

  • Does the institution meet 100 percent of demonstrated need? Will this be the case in future years?
  • Will the work and loan components of the award change in future years?
  • How does the aid award compare to the total cost of attendance?
  • How much of the aid award consists of work and loans? How much is in the form of grants and scholarships?
  • How are local and "outside" scholarships treated?
