Process to Apply for Federal Loans

The lowest interest loans are generally available to students with demonstrated need. We encourage students to apply for need-based aid to determine their eligibility. If need is demonstrated, the Duke Undergraduate Financial Aid Office will inform the student of the loan types and amounts for which the student qualifies. If need is not demonstrated, the Financial Aid Office will provide the student with information on those non-need-based loans for which the student may qualify.
