Entrance and Exit Interview Counseling

The Federal Stafford Loan program as well as Duke's campus-based loans -- the Perkins and Duke Institutional require entrance and exit interviews.

Entrance counseling ensures that borrowers understand the terms and provisions of a loan before receiving it. The entrance counseling requirement can be completed online.

Exit counseling is designed to insure that borrowers understand their loan commitments, including:

• The amount borrowed
• When the first payment is due
• Where to send payments
• Payment options
• How the borrower will be billed
• Deferment and forbearance options
• Who the lender is
• Whom to call with questions
• Other general information about the loan
