Financial Aid Policies for Permanent Residents and U.S. CitizensDuke University's admissions policy is "need-blind" for all US citizens and Permanent Residents (including those students holding a "green card"). Current country of residence has no bearing on eligibility for financial assistance. To apply for both federal and institutional need-based aid, U.S. citizens and Permanent Residents must complete and submit two financial aid applications: the Free Application for Federal Student Assistance (FAFSA) and the CSS PROFILE along with their parent’s most recent national tax forms. If a permanent resident lives outside of the United States, the parent’s must submit an English language statement provided by their employer detailing their current annual income. If you are interested in applying only for federal student assistance you may submit only the FAFSA. These forms should be filed by March 1. If your parents own a business or farm, they must submit a Business/Farm Supplement available from our Forms page or through the The College Board. Students failing to meet the March 1 deadline my have to make a decision on the offer of admission prior to receiving notification of financial aid. Students applying for financial aid as part of their Early Decision application should file the PROFILE with the College Scholarship Service by November 1. To receive the PROFILE, students must submit a PROFILE registration form to CSS as early as possible and at least three weeks prior to Duke's deadline. |
